You might not think that celebrities would need insurance with all the money they have, but in fact they actually seem to like it a lot more than the rest of us do.
For example, Gene Simmons of Kiss has his tongue insured – yes, his tongue – for a grand total of one million dollars. However, that is nothing compared to Keith Richards, the incredibly weathered man who played guitar for the Rolling Stones; amazing it has a policy totalling $1.6 million.
Of course, there are also those who choose to insure more than one body part – super model Heidi Klum has got coverage for both of her legs totalling $2.2 million; one for $1 million and the other for $1.2 million; apparently the fact one leg had a scar detracted from its value by $200,000.
Then there’s Bruce Springsteen, who has his voice insured for $6 million. That might sound insane, but he isn’t the only one; another $6 million policy was taken out to insure Rod Stuart’s voice. There’s also America Ferrera who played Ugly Betty – Her smile is insured for $10 million. (I wonder if that includes the lips and teeth?)
This probably has you wondering who has the most valuable body part in terms of insurance; and what is it? The answer is Mariah Carey, by a long shot. Her legs are insured for an incredible $1 billion. Although this was largely seen as a publicity stunt, it is still a valid policy – making her legs more expensive than, well, pretty much anything and everything!
